I was disappointed that the back is cardboard.Actually, I couldn't believe that the back is cardboard, which you're supposed to nail on with a gazillion nails.The hole in the cardboard is too small to accommodate the power cords to the cable box and the DVD player so I just discarded the cheap cardboard although the instructions specified that you should use it for structural integrity.
